Bringing Back the Chill: A Long-Overdue Aircond Restoration
Can you believe it? Since 2007, the cooling coil in this Proton Saga has never been serviced. After nearly two decades, the air conditioning was struggling to stay cold in heavy traffic, and a persistent bad smell was making every drive uncomfortable. It was finally time for a total system “refresh.”
In this video, I take you through the entire restoration process:
- The Deep Clean: Removing the original cooling coil and blower for a thorough wash (no spray cleaners here—we did it the right way!).
- The Upgrades: Why I decided to replace the front condenser and swap the old, vibrating compressor for a reconditioned unit.
- The Results: Testing the system under the 4:00 PM Malaysian sun. Is the fan speed at “1” really enough to keep it freezing now?
- Maintenance Tips: Why I used stickers to seal off the “outside air” intake to prevent leaves from clogging the new system.
- The Verdict: My honest thoughts on using a reconditioned compressor and what I’ll be monitoring over the next 6 to 12 months.
If your car feels like an oven the moment you hit a traffic jam, this video will show you exactly what needs to be done to get that “new car” coldness back.
